People.
Places.
Possibilities.
I explore how people and the conditions of life shape one another.
Through art, research and practice.
We live in relation.
To other people. To places and objects. To practices, technologies and the possibilities around us.
These conditions shape what we can do and who we can become. Through our actions, we also change them. This relationship runs through my work, from a drawing on porcelain to research on spatial sufficiency and experiments in AI-mediated cooperation.
Selected work
“Only in China have I begun to see myself as a whole.”
A starting point for reflecting on how a place can give different parts of a life room to come together.
An emerging thread for future writingOne life.
Many ways of looking.
I am Jarmo Suominen, an architect, artist, researcher and educator.
My work moves between drawing, environmental design, teaching and the development of new forms of cooperation. Across these settings, I return to people and their surroundings: how life happens, what makes activity possible, and what we might create together.
This is a place to bring those strands together, including work that is still taking shape.
Some work has another layer.
Public project stories introduce the ideas. Detailed demonstrations and working material will have separate project access.
